About Us
How We’ve Served
I am a certified spiritual director, writer, speaker and reatreat leader. I’ve served in parish ministry in both paid and volunteer positions for over 35 years in religious education, youth ministry, stewardship, and liturgical ministries. I am lector and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at our parish. Deacon John and I serve as Unbound prayer ministers.
— Deanna
I started out cleaning the gym at my grammar school, then started answering the phone in the rectory. I was a lector for many years and then served with Deanna in youth ministry. Then one day, while in the chapel, I heard God telling me he wanted me to become a deacon. So I did. That’s the short version, the long version is, well, longer—but in the end I am a deacon. (you can listen to me tell my story here.) Deanna and I both serve on our diocese’s Unbound prayer team.

Who Inspires Us
My favorite saints are St. Ignatius of Loyola and St. Catherine of Siena. I love Ignatius’ way of seeing God in all things and his practicality. Catherine was a mystic, a contemplative who lived in the world and served so many, including kings and popes. All for the love of Jesus.
—Deanna
People who devote their entire lives to preaching the Word and doing God’s good inspire me. John 2:5 reminds me to “Do whatever he tells you.”

Fun Facts About Us
Cradle Catholics, went to the same grammar (as the deacon likes to say) school and parish, married for 37 years, parents of 2, grandparents to 3, a deacon for 5 years, Floridians for way longer than we were New Yorkers. Some of our favorite things to do (besides being with our grandchildren): praying together, traveling, discovering new places to walk, going to the beach, drinking craft beer, entertaining and listening to live music. Deacon John also enjoys winning at Scrabble.
